I have replaced thermostat and waterpump but truck is
still running hot. After driving several miles after parking
overnight goes into overflow tank but does not draw back
into radiator. I have to add coolant each time it is driven.
What else do I need to replace to correct this problem?
Engine light came on, had it checked at Auto Zone and
code showed #5 cylinder misfiring, there is no sign of water in oil. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Hi there,

Thank You for the donation,

have the pressure cap tested as if it is faulty you will not drew back into the radiator, also pressure check for any external leaks, check for a faulty plug & lead or coil if COP system, also any local vacuum leak around No 5 cyl.

Hi there,

if the coolant will not draw back into the system with a new cap, there will be a small leaks somewhere as when the system is cooling it creates a partial vacuum which causes atmospheric pressure action on the head of coolant to flow back into the system, with no partial vacuum, pressures are equal and you get no flow, do you own and know how to read a multimeter for the coil tests?

I have run compression check on all cyls. All have 150lbs
except no. 3 is 120lbs. Ran computer chk shows 3 - 5 cyl
misfiring but have changed plugs on all eight and cleared
check eng light code and now no. 3 is still misfiring. Have
changed coils, moved no 3 to no.1 and 1 to 3 hoping it was a coil, clleared check eng code again, and no. 3 is
still misfiring. A brand new pluig is black, does this mean
cyl too rich.? At loss for what to do now. Any suggestions?

Either you have a faulty injector or the low comp is causing you a problem, do a wet comp test to see if it is rings or a valve causing the lower compression.
