As I ease off the gas it tends to jerk and the rpm's go up and down. What could be causing this. Almost like it wants to die. Sometimes it hesitates when excellerating.

WHat I need you to do it take the car to a nationally recognized parts store and have them scan the computer for trouble codes. If the light has been on, then there should be a code stored in the computer. Most stores will do it for free, so there is no money out of pocket. Also, the code will identify where the problem is coming from. I could only guess that it is from the throttle position sensor or the idle air control valve. But without a code, these are only guesses.

Let me know what you find.

Let me know what they find before you purchase parts. A few of them don't know what the codes actually mean, and they'll sell you something you don't need.
