2004 Dodge Ram 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

my oil pan seems to be rotting out, looks paper thin.what kind of job is it to replace it? I was told the engine has to come out. Is this true?

You will need to lift the engine, but it doesn't need to come all the way out.
