Computer problem
2004 Dodge Ram Four Wheel Drive Automatic 135000 miles

We have a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel truck. It ran fine, we filled it up with diesel, drove a few miles, engine started shaking, worse and worse. Then died and would not crank again. Got it towed to a shop. They first said bad diesel, flushed the engine, and determined that it was not the diesel, then they replaced the fuel pump, truck was still not running. Now they tell us it is the computer. Question: Could it be the computer? And is a new computer really $2700 for the part (no labor) alone?

Sure it can be. The computer uses inputs from sensors to make adjustments and controls the outputs.
I would be curious to ask the shop if they are wrong how are they going to handle the situation.
