2003 Dodge Ram trouble codes p2106 and p2175

check engine light comes on along with a flashing red lightning bolt. engine stalls at idle until engine warms up. shut engine off and restart, lightning bolt disappears but check engine light stays on for a while and engine will still run rough, until after a while the check engine light will diappear and engine runs fine. problem keeps reoccurring. getting trouble codes p2106 and p2175. any ideas?

DTC P2106 indicates that the electronic throttle control(ETC) system has been placed in power limit mode to protect the engine. This DTC will generally be set along with another DTC, which actually caused the system to go into power limit fault mode. If P2106 is set by itself, it is assumed that the PCM is faulty and PCM replacement is recommended. DTC P2175 is low airflow/restricted air intake. It means that the manifold absolute pressure(MAP) sensor has indicated higher than expected vacuum. This is the actual problem that has caused DTC P2106 to set and the resulting power loss.

Check your air filter and intake air tube for any restrictions. Also, look for any pulled off vacuum hoses as this, as odd as it sounds, can also cause this DTC to set. The most likely cause however is just a faulty, intermittent MAP sensor. These are a very common failure item. Your local Dodge dealer will probably have at least two in stock.
