Replaced radiator hose and fluid started engine, lightly sprayed water on it while idling now check engine light is on. Motor runs rough.

Something got wet with the coolant. One problem, coolant doesn't evaporate. Take engine cleaner, follow the directions on the can and clean the engine off. Then allow it to dry and it should take care of the problems. Chances are one of the plug wires is shorting out.

Has the check engine light come on?

Let me know.
