Mark the companion flange so you can line it up when you put it back together. Next, remove the flange. Remove the nut and washer from the pinion, using a puller:
Remove the seal with a slide hammar and replace it. Make sure to put a thin coating of gear oil on the lip of the seal. Also, make sure to replace the nut and washer. NOTE: The convex side of the washer must face out.
