I have washedthe rear of the motor and can not tell where the oil is coming from. The rear of the intake, around the distributor, or oil sending unit. Is there a common cause of oil leak at the back of the motor. Loses a qt every 1500 miles.

It could be from the distributor, intake, or the oil sending unit itself. They make a dye you can put in the oil. After installed and the vehicle is used, you check it with a black light to determine where the leak is coming from. It will actually glow.

LEt me know if you have other questions. As far as common problems, none really. However, the sending unit could be leaking. I would try the dye.
