2002 Dodge Ram V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 67k miles

when i crank the motor a tapping comes for the engine for about 10 seconds, Ive changed the oil about every 3000 to 4000 miles will a synthetic oil help

Synthetic oil is the best, but I don't know if it will change this problem. Two things... first, make sure you are using an oil weight that is recommended by the manufacturer for the temperature range you are in. Second, make sure you are using a quality oil filter with an anti flow back valve. Some of the cheaper oil filters allow oil to drain from them as the engine is off. As a result, pressure needs to build again when it's restarted. Thus, you can get a ticking.
