What color is the smoke?
Blue-ish smoke indicates oil being burned by leaking oil into the cylinder heads. The oil is being burned along with the gas causing the blue smoke. Need to have the valve guides, cylinder heads and rings checked if this is the case.
Grey smoke indicates too much fuel being introduced into the engine. This could be caused by coolant temperature sensor along with many other components.
White smoke indicates coolant being burned by leaking into the combustion chambers. If this is the case, you should have low coolant in the resevoir. Cracked head gasket is usually the reasoning for this.
Run a diagnostic test on your vehicle with a scanning tool or go to a local auto part store to have it done for free. This should give you a better indication of what the problem may be.
