2001 Dodge Ram noise in drive train

Rear differential is replaced. Transimission recently rebuilt. Truck is sluggish starting to move from stop. OD OFF light comes on and goes off periodically under normal driving. Noise from drivetrain...transmission or transfer case area only in drive or reverse. Stops in neutral. Does not make noise with transfer case in neutral. Increases when starting to move then becomes less noticeable. ANy thoughts? Torque Converter?

Im not a mechanic,but i have 2000 ram and had the same problem i thought it was my trany and 4wheel drive unit or my u joints. but after alot of money it turned out to be the inner axle bearings. It would slow down when going down hill and only make the noise when in gear and under loads like drive and reverse a grinding or rumbling sound and the noise transfered through the drive shaft into the trany and made me think it was the trany. Your OD light maybe a seperate problem, a switch or something.I bought the parts for under 60bucks and the garage guy charge $150.00 to do the labor.This may or may not be it but your problem sounds just like mine was.The sounds that come from the axle are very hard to pinpoint.Happy hunting,(post a progress report)
