It's best to check the charging system with everything hooked up on the vehicle. The alternator may be ok, could be a problem with wiring circuit somewhere? Check for applicable trouble codes. Some of the national brand autostores used to check codes for free. Maybe a code will point in the right direction, otherwise it is hunt and peck.
