Wouldnt they have to be working if I spray starting fluid in and then it stays running after that with no problems and then once I turn it off it needs starting fluid again

The injectors don't have to be working for the engine to start. If it dies out -you need to check the fuel pressure.and make sure the injectors are working-You can have the correct fuel pressure but if the injectors are not pulsing you won't get fuel.

If the injectors are working and pressure is correct it should constantly run.

The pressure is okay-Do this without using the carb cleaner-look for spark at the wires while cranking it over -do you have it. and also check the injector/s are they clicking?

Find the ASD relay in the power distribution box and test it-
