1999 Dodge Ram noise in distributor

I went outside this morning a crank my 1999 dodge 1500 half ton pick up truck. It cranks fine but it has a skip when i drve or sit idle and i can hear a popping noise around the distributor cap and a sound off arking . what is iot and what can i do to stop it from skipping as if it is about to cut off ?

Would think a cap and rotor maybe needed
