1999 Dodge Ram engaging the 4 wheel drive

1999 Dodge Ram 1500. Replaced transfer case which was from a 1996 automatic dodge. Everything seems to work fine except to shift into 4 wheel drive is opposite than normal. 4L is closest to the drivers seat.

Recheck the linkage. I think you have it on incorrectly.
