I HAVE A 1999 DODGE RAM. THERE IS ANTIFREEZE LEAKING FROM THE TRUCK. NOT BAD -- JUST A SMALL PUDDLE. THERE IS A SOUND WHEN YOU START IT. IT SOUNDS LIKE WATER IS BEING PUMPED FROM THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE GLOVE BOX ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. IT DOES NOT AFFECT THE PERFORMANCE OF THE VEHICLE. THE SOUND IS NOTICABLE MORE AS YOU ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE.

Because of air in the cooling system, you're hearing antifreeze sloshing through the heater core in the dashboard.

Low coolant will lead to overheated cylinder heads and eventually burned valves even if the engine seems to run ok now. Suspect corroded core plugs. If ignored long enough, one could blow out and leave you sitting on the side of the road.
