My problem is a ticking sound that is coming from under the hood but only under acceleration and only after you have driven for a while a two mile trip to the store, nothing but five ten minunes into a longer trip under acceleration it gets loud, nothing when it idles or even if you put it in park and rev the engine.

Check the universal joints. Also, since you only hear it when you accellerate, make sure there isn't a broken motor mount.
