Have a '98 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9 engine. I have a problem getting the ignition to fire. Checked the battery for full charge, it seems fine, replaced the ignition coil, following advice of a friend, but it did nothing to change the problem. About to try replacing the starter, and thought to ask her for advice.

Is the starter turning the engine slowly? If not, it's fine. Have you checked fuel pump pressure?

If you need directions, let me know. Also, pay close attention to fuel pressure drop off when the key is turned off.

Let me know what you find. Also, was the starter turning slowly?

The starter tested out fine. Think I'll probably remove the bed to get access to the fuel pump. It seems the lesser of two evils.

Have you checked fuel pressure? I would do that before removing the bed.
