1998 Dodge Ram Power Steering Went out without warning

i have a 98 ram 1500 and i was backing out a friend on mine's drive way. I have wheel turn all way to the right then turned all way to left to try and get unstuck and Power steering went completely out.No signs,smells,sounds ANYTHING..just went out.i drove it back home bout 1/4 mile if that..checked in driveway and still no power steering..any idea what it may be???

Is the belt still tight and turning the pump? Have you checked the fluid level?
