Engine Performance problem
1998 Dodge Ram V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 118 k miles

alright, I have a '98 ram that seems to drive funny. It seems to shift fine, but in second gear it has a hickup and continues to shift ok. Then after driving on the highway for about 15 minutes, the rpms start fluctuating, a grinding news comes from the truck (not sure where) and then it dies on me. But it was start right back up fine. And die again. Ive been told that it could be the transmission, fuel pump, or even a sensor. Can you help me out?

The transmission won't kill the engine. Has the check engine light come on? Have you checked fuel pump pressure when this happens?

Let me know.

Here is a how to for checking fuel pressure:

https://www.2carpros.com/how_to/how_to_check_fuel_pressure.htm

You will need a fuel pressure gauge, but most parts stores will lend or rent them to you.

Let me know what you find.
