My check engine light came on, and was diagnosed with the P0783 (3-4 Shift Malfunction) code. I've noticed that sometimes it does shift from 3rd into 4th (Overdrive?) kind of roughly, and other times it seems to just stay in 3rd and hang around 3500 rpm. I did a pan drop, changed the filter and fluid, and cleared the code only to have it return a couple days later. I've been told that it seems to be a solenoid issue, and that would require another pan drop as that is where it's located. Does this sound like the correct fix? Also, when looking online for replacements, I find numerous different options ranging in price from $35 to $135. What is the correct part that I need to purchase? PS...I have the 5.9L V8.

You need the 3-4 shift solenoid. It should be around 100.00.
