Last week I got my oil changed. I didnt do it myself i took it to a shop to have it done. Yesterday my oil light came on and the pressure gauge was going crazy. I checked my oil and it was about an inch above the full line on the dip stick. I went back to the shop and they drained the excess fluid but how do I know if it damaged my engine or not? And should the shop be held responsible if my engine is damaged?

Hi there, i do not think that there will be a long term problem, i would get the company to sign a release acknowledging the fact that they did over fill the engine with oil, this way you will have documented the event if there is a problem.
