1997 Dodge Ram Bad Alternator?

My 97 Dodge Ram 1500 does not run unless I have my foot on the gas the whole time. I think it might be a bad alternator or battery. what do you think.

Check the idle air control valve and throttle position/MAF/MAP sensors to include the PCV and EGR valves
