1996 Dodge Ram Won't start

My 1996 Dodge Ram 1/2 ton dies and won't restart. Replaced IAC valve, and fuel pump checks OK. Still, no start. Cranks fine though, but code readers will not communicate with computer. Crankshaft sensor bad?

Key on engine off
do you have check engine light on (you should )
if not check fuses and wiring ,relays
if light on
crank engine light should go off if not suspect bad crank sensor
