Hello, I have a 1996 dodge 1500 it has 201115 miles on it and sometimes when I crank my truck there is a tapping in the engine. Now this does not occure every time and most of the time if I reeve the engine it will stop. What could this be and does this effect my engine performance?

Hi:
That is the lifters. Because of the mileage on the vehicle, chances are the lifters take a few extra seconds to pump up. If it gets worse, you may want to have them replaced.
