I have a 1996 Dodge 1/2 ton. The engine is running rough and misfiring. I have replaced plugs, wires, cap, and roter(not sure if that's spelled right). When I had the check engine light flash the code it was number 43. Which according to fault code is this : 43** Ignition coil circuit # Open or short in number # coil circuit. Indicates that the ignition coil's peak primary circuit current is not achieved with the maximum dwell time. Does that mean its the ignition coil or is it something else.

Misfires can be caused by worn or fouled spark plugs, a weak spark (weak coil, bad spark plug wire), loss of compression, vacuum leaks, anything that causes an unusually lean fuel mixture (lean misfire), an EGR valve that is stuck open, dirty fuel injectors, low fuel pressure, or even bad fuel
