I have a chance to purchase a very nice 1996 dodge ram 1500 extended cab, 2WD for only $1000 the transmission is bad... I currently have a 1994 dodge ram 1500 that has seen better days... but the drive train is strong.. Can i pull the transmission out of the 1994 and swap it with the 1996??? with very little effort..

in other words will it bolt right up and work or will i have to modify things???

thanks.

Hi:
It should bolt up, but I don't have the cross reference information to see if it is a direct fit. The computer could be a problem and they change so many things from year to year, I can't be sure. we always recommend staying with the same year make and model.

If you contact a salvage yard, they would have the cross reference information you need. Try that, and let me know what they say. I would like to know if it a direct fit or not.
