1994 Dodge Ram V8 Four Wheel Drive Manual

What is setting the distibutor/igniition timimg in degrees compared to top dead center with a timimg light? I have a Haynes manuel but it does not give any information? Thank you for any help you can give.

the pcm controls it and it's not adjustable.
