2500 heavy duty 8800 lb GVW - ABS light is always on. Have had it checked several times - nothing is wrong with the brakes. Does it need a new sensor or does it need reprogrammed?

What did you have checked, the brakes or the ABS system? The base brakes can be fine or in need of service, the ABS system doesn't know or care. There is a diagnostic fault code memorized in the ABS computer when it turns the light on. That code will direct you to the circuit or system with the problem, not necessarily the defective part. Be aware though that even though most aftermarket scanners, (code readers) are getting better, many will not access older ABS systems. You may need to find a mechanic who has the Chrysler DRB2 or DRB3. Those will do everything related to your truck.
