Engine Cooling problem
1993 Dodge Ram 6 cyl Automatic 196000 miles

I want to order a water pump for a 1993 dodge ram Conversion van 250 >b250>base>6 Cyl 3.9. So far no one knows anything for sure if the part I order will fit. Can you give me some direction of Where I can order a new quality water pump online. I want to order it and then take it to a mechanic to install. Thanks

I looked one up on autozone's web page. They have two prices to choose from and you can order it from there. We are not allowed to recommend any one parts store, but if you need it off line, they have it. Here are the pictures:

Compare it to what is on your van. Let me know if this helps. Joe

Thanks, I keep seeing a water pump that looks like the top picture on a few websites I visited but I guess I need a hose to go with it. I don't know what mine looks like. I can't really see. I don't have tools and will buy the part and take it to a mechanic. Donna

Donna:
The 3.9 is a really straight forward engine. I'm sure there are not may options, so you should be okay. One thing I strongly recommend is this. On the top of the water pump is a rubber hose with a 90 degree bend in it. It is aprox 1" in diameter. Replace it when the pump is replaced. It is one hose that is always ignored because it is covered by other parts and a pain to replace. If the pump is off, the mechanic will have easy access to it. Trust me, do it now while it's apart. The hose should be under 15.00 and it will be money well spent. The mechanic shouldn't charge you additional labor because he will already have one side off. He just needs to loosten one extra clamp and pull the old one off and replace it.

Let me know if you have other questions.
