We put a new battery in last July and now it seems to be steaming from the acid getting hot or soemthing. A friend said the alternator was giving it too much charge. Is there any way to tst our alternator to see if there is something wrong with it?

Take it to a nationally recognized parts store and have them test it. Most will do it for free.

Let me know what you find.
