1988 Dodge Ram V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

what are the probabilities of a tire coming off a vehicle while driving? my son was driving a 1988 dodge ram and the tire came off. we feel that the truck was tampered with and the lug nuts loosened.

HI there,

if the wheel has come off and all else is ok, the only way this can happen is for the wheel nuts to come loose, now if you have steel type wide rims, and the wheel was changed recently, you do have to re-tighten these nuts as the material in the rims are very hard and you need to re check the torque of the nuts after a wheel change.

i had that happen to me @ 60 mph..come to find out the factory aluminum rims i had have a habit of lugnut loosening...changd them to steel rims
