my ac is blowing fine and since recharging a week ago it's been blowing cool. but earlier today a noise, seemingly from the compressor, began to occur. my thoughts are to add oil charge but no one seems to carry oil for 12 only the 134 and apparently that oil is too thin. is there any way to add oil to that system w/out having to evac. it?

not really, its a rock and a hard place. you can check online for the oil but your gonna have to buy the correct fittings to administer it into the system
Im wondering if it was recharged from a shop it was supposed to be vacuumed and the correct amount of oil was supposed to be put in after it was checked for leaks, so thats strange. also your compressor may just be shot, the bearings could be shot and could be ready to go.
