Electrical problem
1969 Dodge Ram 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

I am restoring a 1969 dodge d100 truck. after rebuilding the engine and installing it the temperature gauge would not read anything after running for a while. I have jsut bought a new factor correct part number gauge and installed it when I turned the ignition to start the truck the gauge went to HOT as soon as the key was turned. I replaced the sending unit with a new one and still the same result. what is my problem
