I have a 2002 Dodge Durango an the engine light is currently on. There are no visible problems with the vehicle. I suspect a faulty sensor but I have no way of checking or where to begin. I live in Japan so its a little hard to find a dealer to take the vehicle to. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You don't require a dealer to diagnose a check engine light. Are there independent repair shops in Japan? Regardless you are going to have to find a way to retrieve the codes from the computer for starters.
