Have a 97 Dodge grand caravan, 196K miles. Just had transmission re-built and a new battery installed a few weeks ago. This morning while driving to work, in a torential downpour, dash lights start to dim and I notice the voltage light had come on. Turned off radio and fan. Headlights continued to work and so did wipers. Made it to work, but a little concerned. Any ideas?

The caravans had a problem with throwing the serp belt when it snowed. That same wind pattern may have developed in the odd weather, forcing water to the belt area causing it to slip and therefore causing the alternater to not charge properly. If it happens on the way home, have the electrical charging system checked.

Thanks for the info. It had been pouring all night and I was driving into the rain this morning. I thought that might have something to do with it. I'll keep an eye out for it tonight.
