I have a 2000 Dodge Cherokee Jeep. The rear differential fluid is slowly leaking. I am unable to get it repaired for at least 2 weeks. The mechanic filled it up. Is it safe to drive in the meantime and how involved is this repair ?

Hi:

It's safe to drive as long as there is enough gear lube in the differential. If it's loosing it fast, you'll need to keep an eye on it.

As far as cost, I don't know where it's leaking from. Is it the pinion seal, axle seals, or the differential cover?
