1997 Other Dodge Models check engine light

1997 Other Dodge Models 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I replaced the plugs but the check engine light is still on. We are going to be driving over 2000 miles in a couple weeks and I don't have money to spend on a mechanic.

Just because you changed theplugs doesn't mean it will fix the engine. You need to have the engine code scanned to see what sensor is bad or not operating. Auto parts store do this then you have to go from there.
