When the headlights are ON, the entire right side of the taillight/brakelight goes off when you hit the brake. The left side functions normally.

With the headlights OFF, they both work normally.

I took it to a repair shop, they replaced a bulb housing and the brakeswitch. This fixed the problem for about a week, then it returned.

Is this the dimmer switch for the headlights going bad and if so can I fix it myself? I'm a poor college kid, and I only paid $500 for the car, but I keep getting tickets. Please help!

Hi:
The problem you described sounds like the light sockets are bad. Have you taken it back to the people who repaired it the last time? I would think they would recheck their work and fix it again since it wasn't done right the first time.

Give them a call and let me know what you find.

Joe
