1985 Other Dodge Models sputting when accelerating

1985 Other Dodge Models V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

my truck has been sputting ONLY when taking off or asking for power(up hills). I get a strong smell of gas as it is sputtering. Wehave changed fuel filters, fuel pumps, still sputting. please help what is wrong

no it is not feul injected.

I would start by making sure the choke is opening all the way. If that is ok, check the EGR valve to check for proper operation. Finally, check for vacuum leaks. (Make sure the carb is tight)
