1978 Other Dodge Models V8

I have a Dodge 440 V8 engine that bent a pushrod and fell into the pushrod cavity. I plan to replace the pushrod and leave the bent one in the pushrod camber. I expect it may rattle at times, but otherwise do no harm. Am I correct?

NO!!!!! A pushrod rattleing around in the lifter valley will only cause severe catostrophic damage to the upper part of the engine and the cam shaft. So if this is your intention then I guess it will be fine. If you cannot get the pushrod out then both heads must be removed. Don't just remove one head because you will never be able to match the thickness of the head gaskets. Head gaskets must match if not the compression and quench piston area of one side of the engine will not match the other -- and when you are dealing with 440 cubic inches -- that means a lot...
