Trying to change the gear shift. Wont seem to go into park

trying to change the gear shift. wont seem to go into park. the shifter is in park but key still wont come out when turned off, and when I shift gears on the shifter no gears engage. any advice?

Do you feel the "click, click" as you move the shifter? If not, suspect the cable to the transmission has come disconnected from the shift lever or the cable needs to be replaced. My experience only goes up to '99 models. Those used a separate cable to the ignition switch. Since you appear to have two different but related problems, I doubt either cable is broken. You'll need to remove the center console to inspect the shifter lever and cables. Here is how to replace the cable. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what happens.
