my engine light is on and when i go to alcerate the car will not go past 30 mph and thr rpms don't go past 2.

Sounds like a spark issue. Your vehicle is probably running on only 3 of the 4 cylinders. If you have a code reader, get the codes that the engine light is giving.
More than likely there is an issue with either the coil pack(s), spark plugs, or plug wires. Check to see if any of the plugs are dead.
