2004 Dodge Neon acceleration

In the past four days, three times, my car has lost acceleration while driving. Then, it won't go past 20 miles an hour. If I try to accelerate past 20, the engine begins to seize up and try to shut off. P.S. I don't know whether my car is front wheel or all wheel drive or what.

The car is front wheel drive. When it begins to "seize" what exactly do you mean. Does it jitter, shake, I think I may know what your talking about but I need a little more detail.

I just had a problem with a 2005 dodge neon, and I think you may have the same problem, even in park I could rev it up and once it hit 2000 rpms it would seem to misfire. Kind of jitter and shake. The check engine light would come on also. It feels as if the car wont give any more gas. And when it was in drive it would get to 2000 rpms and have a hard time shifting into 2nd. If these symptoms sound familiar you may need a new crankshaft position sensor. Get back to me and let me know what happens with it.
