2003 Dodge Neon Engine Light

Hello,

I have a 2003 Dodge Neon SE, It has 53000 miles on it.
Not one problem with this car since I bought it new in 2003.

Recently the check engine light came on, then when off again. Then On again.

Is this normal for this light to come on at this milage?
Also when the check engine light is on, it seems to be harder to start for the first time of the day, after that its fine.

I love this car.

It is not normal for the light to come on at any mileage. The light comes on when the the car's engine management system detects a problem within the system.

Doesn't the manufacture have engine lites come on automatically at around 50000 miles, Or is that a myth?
