My Wife's sister that has an 02 Neon, FWD, 4cyl. The other day the car stated having a problem shifting, sometimes i would stay in first, other times it would go into neutral (I would press on the gas, but not move). When i first started the car and put it in Drive, before i took my foot off the break, the car tried to lunge forward 2 times.

I checked the ECM trouble codes and got a couple that lead to an EVAP issue (hose, gas cap, etc.) But one code, P0700 came up. When i looked that up it just says the transmission computer reported a problem to the ECM. There were no other codes on the ECM for transmission related issues.

Is there a way to read/get trouble codes from the transmission computer?

TIA

P0700 TCM requested check engine light on
have to check TCM for codes
need a scanner to do so
an OBDII reader will not access TCM codes
most repair shop should be able to help you in getting the TCM codes

Check tranny fluid
suspect speed sensors
and or tranny solenoid
