Yesterday I was driving my car and noticed that my car started shifting weird in drive all of a sudden, it barely would accelerate and move. I put it into 3rd gear and it seemed fine and normal for a minute and then it did the same thing in that gear too. So I put it back into drive and then after a few seconds I noticed my engine started smoking and I turned off my car and underneath was a huge pile of transmission fluid that looked how transmission fluid should, bright red. I got back in and started the car and reversed it into a parking space and it seemed to let me do that fine. Is this a sign that my transmission is gone on my 2002 (58,000 miles) Dodge Neon? Or could this possibly be something else not as costly as a new transmission?
