2001 Dodge Neon fuel gadge

2001 Dodge Neon 4 cyl Automatic 81000 miles

i filled my car up with gas completely and now the gas hand fluctuates btn. 1/2 tank and empty when i start the car. when i just turn the key before it starts it reads full, what could be wrong?

most likely suspect faulty fuel level sensor which is part of the fuel pump module itself. first check for a loose or bad ground on the wiring harness to the sensor (in fuel tank).
