2001 Dodge Neon 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Hello....i recently took my car in for an oil change and was told i needed to replace the lower ball joint on the front right side of my 01 dodge neon..so i took my car to a different garage just to make sure and i got the same outcome...my question would be...does the whole control arm and ball joint need to be replaced on my car or can just the ball joint be replaced...ive heard a couple different things from different places and id like to know so i dont end up spending more money than absolutely necessary

you can replace the ball joint separately, no need to replace entire control arm.
