2000 Dodge Neon Power Stearing

I have a question. My 2000 dodge neon when i turn the stearing wheel, gets about half way before i loosing the powering stearing. What could cause that and what should i do. Thanks

check the power steering fluid level and make sure it doesn't smell or look burnt.
